Unhappy Is there a way to fix this?

When I first bought Guild Wars it worked fine.

Then after about 6 months, something happened to the computer that cause horizontal lines to appear wherever there was a black spot on the screen that would stretch the length of the monitor.

My computer was sent to the shop and repaired.

Then when I tried to open the game all my characters looked like they were made from chrome. And the game lags far too much for me to pvp or pve anymore.

Is there a way to fix it?

Specs of your PC please? ;\ *sigh*

Processor, RAM, Graphics Card, driver versions, etc.

All that information can be found in; Start, Run, dxdiag, OK, and Graphics Card information is on the Display tab.

Um, I did all that and I clicked on the tab but I can't find anything that will tell me the Processor, RAM, Graphics Card, driver versions. But (I don't know if this matters)I found something that lets me 'Test Direct3D' and it was sucssesful... This is what I found:

Name:NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip Type: RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro
DAC Type: Intergrated RAMDAC
Approx. Total Memory: 32.0 MB
Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: Plug in And Play Monitor

the cpu info is on the dxdiag first page

that card seems to be showing what are called artifacts and is a sign of stress and very soon failure.

also it is under minimum spec

the site below will scan your pc and tell you if it is capable of running GW

i just found out this pc wont handle OBLIVION

EDIT IT IS A MICROSOFT SITE

I'm not surprised, 32MB of vRAM? o_O + It seems you have a reallllly old nVidia card.

Tbh, I think your Card is dying maybe? Too much stress? Or maybe just a driver update?

Try various driver versions from www.nvidia.com in there Driver archive.

And the RAM/CPU/etc is on the first display tab when you start dxdiag.

I had this happen to me once as well. Characters wearing chrome armor and such. It turned out to be a problem with the graphics driver I was running. Try updating at www.nvidia.com and see if that helps.

The NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro is a VERY old card, doesnt support the lighting that Guild Wars needs and also doesnt even support DirectX 8 fully, or Direct Draw fully..

VERY old is the understatement of the century...try antique. Time for a total system upgrade there.

Hahaha. I've begged to get a new computer. But, I'm not the richest kid in the world.

If he was able to play using an TNT, upgrading to a Geforce 3 or 4 (NO MX) it would be cheap and he would notice a huge performance update.

It's when you have to downgrade on something your use to, is when it really hits you. If you need something cheap to hold you over grab the card that's listed as the lowest for min specs for GW. Again if you can do better do so, but min is < $50.

Min - ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX

Check out this card:

http://www.pricewatch.com/video_cards/6053-1.htm - $41.99 (free shipping)
ATI RADEON 9550 Video Card 128MB DDR DVI TV-Out 8X AGP Retail Box
Part No - VCA-CM-R9550-128-TD
